Sam Curling's experience and passion for horses started from a young age. Sam grew up with horses and enjoyed many years of hunting and eventing. During his early riding career he worked as a conditional jockey for top trainers such has Edward O Grady, Willie Mullins and Nicky Henderson. After retiring from race riding, Sam worked at Ballydoyle Racing riding top class flat racehorses such as St.Nichols Abbey and Septumos.
In 2010 Sam returned to his home property in Skehanagh where he has developed Sam Curling Racing into a top quality training yard with a range of facilities. Services includes breaking,
pre-training, training, breeze up sales, sales and summer grazing.
Since taking over Skehanagh Stables, Sam alongside his wife Zoe has trained over 90 winners and sold over 40 horses through Goffs and Tattersalls along with many other successful private sales. Sam is now one of the top P2P trainers in Ireland having finished joint second in the handlers title last season and also training Longhouse Music to become the first ever mare to win both the Champion Point to Pointer and Champion Mare titles. Sam has trained many other horses to be successful in their future racing careers.
Sam and Zoe live on site at Skehanagh Stables along with their two children Isabella and Evie.
